# stak.sh

> Public usage signals for a curated catalog of developer tools, next to the stacks developers publish themselves.

stak.sh measures developer tools week by week on public sources (package downloads, GitHub activity, Q&A questions, pageviews, search interest, mentions, job ads, surveys) and on the stacks developers publish on the site. Each number becomes a tool's share of its category per source; the shares are combined into three lenses (adoption, attention, community) and one index, which adds up to 100% across a category. Scores, ranks and changes are stak.sh's own work, licensed CC BY 4.0 with attribution to stak.sh. Raw source values are shown on the pages for reference only.

## API

JSON, no key, cacheable for an hour. Limits per client address: 30 requests per minute, 500 per day; 429 with Retry-After beyond that. One request per decision is the intended use; bulk copies, mirrors and resale are not allowed (https://stak.sh/terms#api).
