# Portrait sources and licenses These nine local portraits are adaptations of the exact Wikimedia Commons files listed below. All inputs were downloaded at their original resolution; no Wikimedia thumbnail was used. Source dimensions were checked against the downloaded, decoded files, and source previews and all final portraits were inspected. The photographs and their adaptations remain under their respective source terms, not the project code license. The CC BY-SA adaptations are distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0; the CC BY adaptations, including Sanfilippo's CC BY 3.0 video still, retain their listed CC BY licenses. Karpathy's source is under CC0 1.0. No additional permission, endorsement, model release, trademark rights or personality rights is asserted. In particular, Commons flags personality rights for Simon Willison's photograph. The linked Commons page revisions document the supplied licensing metadata. They are description-page revisions, not image-binary version identifiers. The original-input and local-output SHA-256 values below identify the actual bytes used. Author names, work titles, license versions and required HashiCorp credit are retained here. For the CC0 portrait, source and author are retained for provenance; visible UI attribution is not required. Crop coordinates are integer source pixels in Pillow order `[left, top, right, bottom]`, with a top-left origin and exclusive right/bottom edges. Apply EXIF orientation before cropping; these inputs have orientation 1 or none, so coordinates also match the decoded input pixel grids. Every crop is square, resized to 384 × 384 with Lanczos, converted to RGB and encoded as lossy WebP at quality 82, method 6. Embedded EXIF, XMP and ICC metadata is not copied. No retouching, compositing, generated fill or color adjustment was applied. Encoder used: Pillow 13.0.0, libwebp 1.6.0. Full work titles and prior-crop history remain in this public record. All eight existing portraits and decoded sources were visually reviewed, including circular previews at 64 and 192 pixels. Karpathy and Torvalds were cropped more tightly to reduce excess torso and match the other head-and-shoulders portraits. Martin was recropped from the linked uncropped original to recover hair and center the tilted face.
